Title: Waffle Tonic, Rocket House
Medium: Photoshop
"Let's go to this resturant, I've never been here before!" Little did the two know that it was all a clever trap. Rocket Tonic.
Out of all the stuff I have done for my Survey of Computer Art Applications class at SCAD so far, this is probably my favorite. I loved the original photo, taken by my dad (a fucking AWESOME photographer who should have gone professional, but had to have a family instead) during the Spring of 2003 when we went down to SCAD (my current school) to check the place out. The photo just spoke volumes to me. Flashforward to a few months ago, when I was putting together plans for Rocket Tonic (the Zine). I was thinking of cover ideas and looking through some old photos on my computer. I came across this and said "Hey...Waffle House has the same amount of letters as Rocket Tonic! Score!" I then high fived myself and was glad that no one saw me do that. But, I was inept at Photoshop at the time. Then comes this Survey of Computer Aart class. I decided to go for it, and am glad with the results. I'm a little pissed that some of the letters don't line up exactly, but that is the best I could get it for now. Perhaps I will rework it down the road if I ever do start the zine and use this for a cover. It's good enough to turn in tomorrow (today) for class. I played with the colors to make it look more like a color photo from the 70s or 80s, as the project was to make a postcard.
I'm actually quite pleased with this one (even though I'll probably hate it in a few months time).
