Title: Rocket Tonic 015: farewell, mighty antelope...
Media: india ink on bristol
Size: 5 3/4 by 14 inches

So yeah, there was no Rocket Tonic last week. Well, there was, but it missed the deadline and was not in the paper. So I decided to take the week off. That missed comic (Rocket Tonic #014) will be up next week both here and in the paper.

A little backstory on this comic... My good sequential art buddy Jon (of Robot Dave fame) had his bike, named The Antelope, stolen a few weeks ago. So he got the District cartoonists together and got us to do an Antelope Tribute Strip. This is mine. Only three cartoonists, including Jon, did an Antelope strip. One had a bike in it, but they did not call it the Antilope, and that strip sucks anyways, so it doesn't count. Three out of a possible nine to ten strips this week. Well, I did MY part! It would have been awesome if all three pages of the comic sections had nothing but Antelope Tribute strips. The joke would have been funnier. Oh well. Enjoy the strip.

Oh, and even though my Rockeet Tonic-self says that Rocket Tonic is better than Jon's strip Robot Dave is Better Than You, the reality of the situation is that Robot Dave is better than Rocket Tonic. I am just bitter and jealous. ::emo tear::

SOME NEWS THAT NO ONE WILL READ:
If you are in the Savannah area tomorrow, SCAD and the student medias are putting on the Media Mayhem Record and Zine Fair. I am going to be there in full force selling a Grunge Lobster mini and (if I can get it together) The Rocket Tonic 25cent Reader. Might sell a third mini, if I can quikcly pencil and ink one before tomorrow. It is 1 to 6PM, Orleans Hall (right behind O-House). Not in the Sav area and want to buy a mini or trade? Well, I'll see what I can do about sending these to people and having people pay me via PayPal or whatever. But for right now, the only place to get them is at the Record and Zine Fair.

Also, Rocket Tonic may stop. Or at least stop being what you know it as today. I'm trying to figure a way to work with all the characters I have and do comics with them without burning myself out by doing five different running comic strips at once (I've tried doing it with two running strips at once, and THAT fucking sucks). So what I'm thinking of doing is a showcase sort of thing. What I am currently thinking is that on my website (pran-man.com) I will have all my characters and their strips live there and be updated from there. So maybe for two weeks I'll have a short Pran-Man story line, then one day of Rocket Tonic, then a two page Grunge Lobster adventure, then a week of Pran again, another Rocket Tonic, two Ballon Cats, whatever. Am I explaining this right? Probably not. But if you are getting what I am getting at, there cold be a whole week of comics that run with the Rocket Tonic characters. There could be a week where only one Rocket Tonic is up. There could be a week or two or three where there are no Rocket Tonics. But on the non-Rocket Tonic days, there would be strips and comics with other characters. And as far as the District is concerned, I'll send them whatever I feel was the funniest and most-able-to-stand-on-its-own comic from the upcoming week. Am I explaining this right? Well, I don't know when it might happen. It might not happen until next quarter or even next year. It is just an idea i have right now, but it feels like one that has a strong possibility of coming to pass, as it will make it easier and less stressful for me to put out comics. So, we'll see. Just giving everyone the heads up, so you aren't too terribly surprised.

Hooray! I got your comics at the zine fair, and I loved Grunge Lobster!

Whatever you do, man, I'll keep reading.

(Pssst! I think Rocket Tonic is better than Robot Dave, but don't tell Jon.) ;)
